Vic: Police probing mystery shooting search suburban address

MELBOURNE, Jan 9 AAP - Detectives probing the shooting of a man found lying beside his car on a busy Victorian highway believe they may have found the scene of the attack.

Passers-by found the critically-wounded victim with gun shot injuries to his chest beside the car near the intersection of the Princes and South Gippsland highways at Hallam, about 4.25am (AEDT) on Thursday.

The 32-year-old Keysborough man was later taken to The Alfred hospital in Melbourne in a critical condition.

Detectives from the Armed Crime Taskforce swooped on a property at Anaconda Road in Narre Warren on Friday afternoon, though no arrests have been made.

A 33-year-old man from Rowville, in Melbourne's south-east, was questioned on Thursday over the shooting but was released and no charges have been laid.
