NSW: Group of teens charged over assault - police

SYDNEY, Jan 11 AAP - A man has been assaulted by a group of teenagers in central Sydney, police say.

The group approached the 25-year-old man in Hay St at Haymarket just before 3am (AEDT) on Sunday, allegedly demanding money and attacking him when he refused to hand over cash and personal items.

Police arrived at the scene and arrested six males.

Four males aged 13, 14, 16 and 17 have been charged with aggravated assault with intent to rob.

They have been refused bail to appear at Bidura Children's Court on Monday.

An 18-year-old man has been charged with aggravated assault with intent to rob.

He has been refused bail to appear in Central Local Court on Monday.

Another 18-year-old man has charged with aggravated assault with intent to rob, give false name and breach of bail.

He has also been been refused bail to appear in Central Local Court on Monday.
