SYDNEY, Feb 2 AAP - Two men have died from stab wounds after a fight involving up to eight people outside a bar in Sydney's south-west.

The men, both about 30 years of age, suffered multiple stab wounds during the incident on Chapel Street, Bankstown, between 9.15pm and 9.30pm (AEDT) on Sunday, police said.

"There's been some sort of fight between a group of men outside a licensed premises in the lead-up to the stabbings," a NSW police spokeswoman said.

"Police are out there speaking to witnesses and a few witnesses have gone back to Bankstown police station to talk to police," the spokeswoman said early Monday morning.

The men were taken to Liverpool Hospital, where they were pronounced dead.

About eight men of Asian descent were involved in the fight, but the spokeswoman said there were no other recorded injuries.

The homicide squad was assisting the investigation, and there was nothing at this stage to suggest the fight was gang-related, she said.
