Qld: Best job a big disappointment for some

Tourism Queensland has come under fire from angry hopefuls who missed the deadline for what could be the best job in the world.

In a bid to boost the floundering tourism market the Queensland government advertised a dream job .. where the successful applicant will earn 150 thousand dollars for a six-month stint as the Hamilton Island caretaker on the Great Barrier Reef.

Nearly 35 thousand people applied .. but a few hundred who failed to meet the February 23 deadline .. or whose application didn't measure up to specifications .. aren't happy.

ABBY FELDMAN from New York says she applied by submitting her video and photo on two occasions .. only to be told Queensland Tourism never received her video because of massive strain on its system.

She says the competition's proved a dud for the thousands who lost out just because of a technical error.
