SYDNEY, March 7 AAP - Police have charged two men with street racing after confiscating two cars in Sydney's west.

A blue Mazda MP3 and a red Toyota Celica were racing at speeds of about 80 kmh in a 60km/h zone on Parramatta Road, near the intersection of Bland Road about 12.15am on Saturday, police said.

Both drivers allegedly revved their engines and accelerated while passing a police speed trap.

Officers chased the vehicles before they were stopped about one kilometre west on Parramatta Road.

The two male drivers, aged 22 and 24, were charged with speeding at more than 30 kmh and taking part in a race between vehicles.

They will appear at Burwood Local Court on April 7.
