Obama to reverse Bush limits on stem cell research

US President BARACK OBAMA will wipe out another contentious aspect of his predecessor GEORGE W BUSH'S legacy .. by removing curbs on federal funding for embryonic stem cell research.
The president was to sign an executive order today .. reversing a policy that critics say has hampered the fight into finding treatments for grave diseases like Alzheimer's .. Parkinson's .. and diabetes.
An administration official says the executive order will lift the Bush ban on use of federal funding for embryonic stem cell research .. and will direct National Institutes of Health to formulate guidelines within 120 days for how to proceed with newly created lines.
The move is sparking delight among scientists who have long campaigned for the Bush policy to be overturned .. but is already running into fire from social conservatives and right-to-life groups.
