SYDNEY, March 11 AAP - Labor MP Gerard Martin has apologised to NSW Parliament after he "remonstrated" with opposition staffers during Tuesday's question time.

The opposition accused Mr Martin, the member for Bathurst, of threatening, intimidating and bullying opposition staff when he allegedly said, "you f***ing grubs better learn to shut up".

Mr Martin said on Tuesday that he did walk over and "remonstrate" with opposition staff, but did not swear at them.

Speaker Richard Torbay investigated the matter and on Wednesday told parliament that Mr Martin had apologised to the parliament via him.

"The member of Bathurst has offered an apology to me, which I convey to the house," Mr Torbay told parliament.

"He has also advised me that he has apologised in writing to a female member of the leader of the opposition's personal staff.

"I take the opportunity to remind all members of their obligation to conduct themselves in such a manner to uphold standards that would meet community expectations."
