SYDNEY, April 3 AAP - A man has been charged with murder over the shooting death of former Nomads bikie and Kings Cross identity Todd O'Connor, who was gunned down in Sydney last year.

Mr O'Connor was shot dead on the night of October 5, with police rushing to the scene after passers-by saw him staggering along South Street in Tempe.

Officers unsuccessfully tried to revive the 41-year-old, who had suffered shotgun wounds to his head and neck.

A 27-year-old man was arrested at Marrickville on Friday over the shooting, with police later charging him with murder.

He has been refused bail to appear at Parramatta Bail Court on Saturday.

The arrest was made by detectives from Strike Force Colbee, set up to investigate the death.

Police are still looking for a second man, described as being 29 years old, of solid build, about 180cm tall, and with dark hair.

As well as being a former member of the Nomads outlaw motorcycle gang, Mr O'Connor was also said to have been a founding member of the Notorious crime gang with links to the Kings Cross drugs trade, a claim lawyers have denied.
