A Queensland passenger who travelled on the Pacific Dawn cruise ship's last voyage has tested positive for swine flu .. bringing the total number of cases in the state to 11.

The Mackay man .. aged in his 50s .. alighted in Sydney on Monday .. then flew to Mackay via Brisbane on Virgin Airlines.

Nine of the cases confirmed in Queensland have come from the Pacific Dawn .. which took on a new crew and another load of two thousand passengers when it docked in Sydney on Monday .. before embarking on another cruise to the Great Barrier Reef.

The P and O ship has now cut short its journey after three crew members tested positive for the virus and is expected to dock in Brisbane at 10 am (AEST) today .. before returning to Sydney.

The Queensland government will invoke tough quarantine powers to stop passengers who don't live in Queensland from disembarking when the ship arrives in Brisbane.
