Vic: Swine flu hits hard in Melbourne's north and west

New figures show more than three-quarters of Victoria's swine flu cases occurred in Melbourne's north and west.

The figures came as Victoria's tally of people diagnosed with the potentially deadly virus reached 395 yesterday .. two weeks after the first cases were confirmed.

Eighty-nine new cases were announced yesterday by Health Minister Daniel Andrews .. with 776 tests pending.

Of the 395 swine flu patients .. 317 are in the North and West Metropolitan region.

The cities of Whittlesea and Hume .. neighbouring councils in the city's outer north .. account for 66 and 49 cases respectively.

The eastern metropolitan region has 35 cases from Boroondara in Melbourne's inner east .. to the outer eastern Yarra Ranges Shire.
