NSW: Two youths charged over stabbing in Sydney's south-west

SYDNEY, Jan 17 AAP - Two teenagers have been charged over the stabbing of a 40-year-old man.

Police allege the man was walking with his 19-year-old niece along Friendship Way, Minto, in Sydney's south-west, when they were confronted by two youths.

The man was allegedly punched in the face and stabbed in the torso with a broken beer bottle.

After seeking refuge at a nearby house the man was taken to Liverpool Hospital for treatment.

His injuries are not considered life threatening.

Soon after he was attacked, police arrested a 17-year-old male and a 15-year-old male near the scene.

The 17-year-old was charged with reckless wounding and affray.

The 15-year-old was charged with affray, assault occasioning actual bodily harm and breach of bail.

The pair were refused bail and are due to face Parramatta Bail on Saturday.
