Water levels have started to ease on the New South Wales mid north coast .. after heavy rain cut off main access roads and led to a number of major areas being declared natural disaster zones.

The SES says all major roads into the Bellinger Valley are now clear again .. after Bellingen and Thora were cut off.

About 100 people in some 30 rural properties around Kempsey are still isolated.

Coffs Harbour .. Nambucca .. Kempsey and Hastings are among the regions declared natural disaster zones .. while out west Bourke also received the same declaration.

Local road closures also remain in place around Bourke and Walgett.

The SES also says 120 residents of Weemelah .. northwest of Moree .. will be cut off from Saturday morning for about 48 hours while nearby Gill Creek reaches its peak.
