US stocks rise after Bernanke nomination

US stocks has climbed on opening as investors appear to welcome President BARACK OBAMA'S widely expected nomination of Federal Reserve chairman BEN BERNANKE for a second term.

The Dow Jones Industrial Average rose 27.97 points 0.29 per cent to 9,537.25 in early trades.

The tech-heavy Nasdaq composite increased 5.22 points or 0.26 per cent to 2,023.20 and the Standard and Poor's 500 index .. a broad measure of the market .. advanced 3.05 points or 0.30 per cent to 1,028.62.
