Russia says the crew of a plane that crashed in western Russia yesterday .. killing Poland's president .. repeatedly ignored instructions from Russian air traffic controllers.
The statement's come from a Russian air force official .. who says at a distance of 1.5 kilometres .. air traffic control realised the plane had begun descending beneath its glide path .. and ordered the crew to return to horizontal flight.
The official says the crew did not follow the instruction .. even though they had been ordered several times to land at another airport.
Instead .. the plane continued to descend.
Officials say all 96 people aboard the Tu-154 plane that crashed near the western Russian city of Smolensk .. are dead.
