Vic: Four film-makers arrested in imitation firearm drama

MELBOURNE, Nov 6 AAP - Four filmmakers face questioning on firearms offences after a passer-by mistook their theatrical gunplay for a real-life drama, causing a major police response, in inner suburban Carlton last night.
Victoria Police spokesman Senior Constable Wayne Wilson said police were called to a block of flats in Canning Street, carlton, about 10.40pm (AEDT) when a member of the public reported seeing a person menacing another with afirearm.
"A person came into Carlton police station pretty distressed, saying they had seen a guy with a gun. All they said was that they saw the gun being held to someone's head," he told AAP.
Local police and a critical incident response team were sent to the area.
They sealed off the neighbourhood and arrested four people at the scene.
Film equipment and an imitation firearm were allegedly recovered, Sen-ConstWilson said.
"It looks like they were making a film and they were the only ones that knew about it," he said.
The four are being interviewed at the Victoria Police Centre and could facecharges of possessing a firearm and public nuisance.
The charge of possessing a firearm also covers imitation weapons, Sen-ConstWilson said.
