NSW: Family receives at least50,000 for faeces-laced ice cream<

There's been some confusion about how much compensation a Sydney couple has received for allegedly being served faeces-laced ice cream .. after settling privately with the Coogee Bay Hotel.

News Limited says STEVE and JESSICA WHYTE have been paid 50 thousand dollars .. while Fairfax newspapers say their sources report the payout ranged between 60 thousand and 195 thousand dollars.

After a day-long mediation yesterday between the hotel and the WHYTES an agreed statement was released which said both parties regretted the distress the incident caused.

The statement .. issued by law firm Slater & Gordon .. who are representingthe family .. cleared the WHYTES of any involvement in lacing the ice-cream with faeces.

Neither side has revealed the financial arrangements.

The saga's set to continue after the hotel hired a team of former NSW police officers to conduct an independent investigation.
