ASIA: Emotions, fervour boil over as Bali bombers buried
09 Nov 2008 10:18 PMGrief and religious fervour boiled over into calls for revenge in east Java as two brothers executed for their roles in the 2002 Bali attacks were buried amid tight security.
A crowd of about 500 supporters briefly clashed with police near the familyhome of 47-year-old AMROZI .. dubbed the "smiling assassin" .. and MUKHLASas their bodies arrived in their village.
The men were executed by firing squad along with fellow bomber IMAM SAMUDRAshortly after midnight on Saturday on a prison island off southern Java.
The crowd burst into tears and shouts of God is greater could be heard as the helicopter bearing the bodies landed in a nearby field.
Hardline cleric ABU BAKAR BASHIR .. the co-founder of the Jemaah Islamiah terror group who was jailed on a conspiracy charge related to the bombings before being released in 2006 .. led prayers but didn't speak to the media.
