SYDNEY, Nov 13 AAP - Police investigating a decades-old suspected murderhave several new leads after their search of a Blue Mountains property.

Officers spent much of this week excavating an abandoned half-acre propertyat Blackheath, after receiving new information about the disappearance of Jill Lesley Gamblin.

The 30-year-old was last seen leaving the former Paris Theatre in Sydney's Liverpool Street on December 2, 1979.

A coronial inquest last year found she had possibly been murdered, but no suspects were identified.

"A number of exhibits have been seized which will require further forensic examination," Detective Inspector John Maricic said.

"Also, as a result of this week's media coverage, a number of persons have come forward to assist with inquiries."

Late yesterday, officers found bone fragments beneath thick shrubbery at the rear of the Wombat Road property. Tests later revealed they were not human.

Insp Maricic said officers had searched the entire property, including a dwelling, sheds, and a buried shipping container.

Clothing is believed to be among the items that will now undergo forensic tests.

"We are pleased with the response we have got from the public as a result of this week's activity," he said.

Insp Maricic said police had received 10 new reports this week but declinedto give details.
