NSW: Schoolgirl's teenage killer will appeal sentence: family
14 Nov 2008 2:56 PMThe parents of a New South Wales teenager .. convicted of killing a schoolgirl in a stabbing frenzy say they'll be appealing his 17-year sentence because police got the wrong boy.
15 year old TANIA BURGESS was stabbed 48 times on her way home from school while walking through the Forresters Beach Resort car park on the NSW Central Coast in July 2005.
As she lay dying .. she managed to utter her attacker's first name .. his school and his class.
Last March a NSW Supreme Court jury took only 90 minutes to find the man guilty of her murder.
Today .. Justice ROBERT HULME sentenced the man .. now 19 .. to a maximum of 22 years in jail.
Outside the court his parents claimed he couldn't stand to see anything dead .. and he's absolutely .. completely innocent.
The parents says they've conducted their own investigation and have proof another boy was responsible for TANIA's death.
