US: Hendrix drummer died of natural causes
14 Nov 2008 4:06 PMPORTLAND, Oregon, Nov 14 AP - Mitch Mitchell, the former drummer for theJimi Hendrix Experience, died in his sleep of natural causes, an autopsy revealed.
Mitchell, 61, whose fusion style allowed him and one of history's greatest guitar players to feed off each other, was found early on Wednesday in his room at the Benson Hotel in Portland.
Dr Christopher Young of the Multnomah County Medical Examiner's Office toldThe Oregonian that Mitchell may not have sought medical help because "sometimes people don't realise how sick they are".
Mitchell's final performance was the last stop on the West Coast leg of theExperience Hendrix tribute tour.
He looked tired and played only one song, said Terry Currier, owner of the Music Millennium record shop.
