NSW: Pensioners call for big increase in age pension

Pensioners have hit out at the federal government over their increasing financial hardships .. saying they helped build Australia but are now disqualified from living in it.

At a public rally in Sydney today .. pensioner groups have urged the government to raise the age pension from 25 per cent of male total average weeklyearnings to 35 per cent.

That would mean single pensioners would get 375 dollars a week and a couplewould get 562.

The rally was attended by around 300 pensioners .. as well as New South Wales opposition spokesman for ageing ANDREW CONSTANCE.
