WA: Stabbing murder added to attempted shooting murder charge
20 Nov 2008 3:18 PMPERTH, Nov 20 AAP - A man facing a charge of attempted murder after firing shots into a home has been charged with the stabbing murder of an elderly man in a separate incident.
Police in the mid-north West Australian city of Geraldton said they had charged a 49-year-old local man with the murder of 94-year-old Joseph Hollombyon Sunday.
Mr Hollomby was found dead in his suburban Tarcoola Beach home in the earlyhours, shortly after shots had been fired into a house in the nearby suburb of Rangeway on Saturday night.
Police said there were occupants in the house at the time but no-one was injured.
They said at the time that a rifle had been seized and that they were investigating a possible link between the shooting and Mr Hollomby's death.
The 49-year-old was questioned in relation to the shooting and later charged with attempted murder.
Police said he had been charged with murder on Thursday and would appear inGeraldton Magistrates Court on Monday on both charges.
He was not related to the stabbing victim, they said.
