WA: Man in fatal pursuit wanted for other offences: police
20 Nov 2008 3:27 PMPERTH, Nov 20 AAP - Western Australian police say a man who died after avehicle pursuit in Perth on Thursday morning was wanted over several criminal matters.
They said the chase through the eastern suburbs began when the 29 year-old driver of a stolen Holden Statesman failed to respond to demands to stop.
The car ended up rolling into the front yard of a home on Albany Highway.
Police found the driver trapped in the vehicle and he died at the scene.
Police said he had been wanted for questioning on stolen vehicle charges, burglary offences and an assault.
They said a sawn-off rifle was found in the wrecked car.
The major crash section will conduct an inquiry on behalf of the coroner. It will be overseen by the police Internal Affairs Unit.
