NSW: Man arrested after arranging to meet girl on internet

A Sydney man's been arrested .. after arranging to meet and have sex with .. what he believed to be a 14-year-old girl .. after chatting on the internet.

However .. police say the 40-year-old Newtown man was actually chatting with an undercover officer from the Child Exploitation Internet Unit over a period of three months.

He was arrested at Parramatta this afternoon at a public place where he hadallegedly arranged to meet the girl.

Police will allege he performed sexual acts via webcam and offered up to 500 dollars for the teenager to meet him and perform sexual favours.
