NSW: P-plate driver clocked at 198kmh
21 Nov 2008 3:39 PMSYDNEY, Nov 21 AAP - A P-plater has been caught driving almost 100km over the speed limit in the NSW southern highlands.
The 22-year-old Fairfield man was in a Ford Falcon XR8 allegedly clocked at198 kmh on the Hume Highway at Mittagong about 3pm (AEDT) on Thursday.
The speed limit on that stretch of road is 100 kmh, police said in a statement.
His provisional licence was suspended on the spot, and the man is due to face Moss Vale Local Court on December 23.
He is charged with travelling at a dangerous speed, and of exceeding the speed limit stipulated in his provisional licence by more than 45 kmh.
