NSW: Man charged after armed abduction
22 Nov 2008 9:19 AMSYDNEY, Nov 22 AAP - A man will face court after he allegedly abducted two men in Sutherland last week, threatening one with a gun.
A 27-year-old man and a 25-year-old man were in Eton Street, Sutherland, ataround 2pm (AEDT) on November 11 when they were allegedly approached by a 22-year-old Gymea man.
It is believed the 22-year-old man demanded cash from the 27-year-old man before assaulting and threatening him with a gun.
Both men were allegedly forced to drive to a shopping centre in nearby Menai in Sydney's south before being taken a short distance to a house in Illawong where they were able to escape and contact police.
The 22-year-old man fled the scene before police arrived.
After investigations, police arrested the 22-year-old at Sutherland railwaystation at about 11.50am (AEDT) on Friday.
He was charged with several offences including assault occasioning actual bodily harm and takingdetaining a person with intent to obtain advantage.
The man was refused bail and is expected to appear at Parramatta Bail Courton Saturday.
