NSW: Police use taser on teenager
22 Nov 2008 12:11 PMPolice say they've used a Taser stun-gun on a teenager three times afterhe allegedly assaulted an officer and resisted arrest in Sydney.
The 16 year old was allegedly involved in two fights inside and outside a take away shop in Maroubra about 7pm last night (AEDT).
He's been charged with assault .. assaulting police and resisting arrest.
He's been refused bail to appear at Parramatta Childrens Court today.
The use of the controversial weapon comes after the New South Wales Ombudsman last week recommended a two-year moratorium on the roll-out of Taser guns to all general duties police .. saying operating procedures are inadequate and must be reviewed.
