NT: Teenage girls hurt in fall from road train
24 Nov 2008 2:31 PMDARWIN, Nov 24 AAP - One teenage girl is critical and another serious after falling or jumping from the back of a road train in the Northern Territory outback.
It was believed the girls climbed onto the back of a car transport trailer attached to the road train at Ti Tree, 193km north of Alice Springs, beforeit set off along the Stuart Highway for Tennant Creek, NT police said.
The girls were injured when they either fell or jumped off the trailer about 1km north of the town on Monday, they said.
Both were taken to Tennant Creek Hospital where one is in a critical condition and the other serious.
Police are investigating the accident and at least one lane of the Stuart Highway is expected to remain closed for most of the day.
Motorists have been asked to drive with caution as they approach the area.
