Qld:Weir tragedy could have been caused by faulty control system

The failure of the computer-monitored inflatable barrier at a dam in central Queensland has raised concerns about other such devices used in the state.
The barrier .. used to hold back water at the Bedford Weir .. ruptured on Sunday afternoon .. sweeping four-year-old NELANI CIARI KOEFER to her death down the MacKenzie River.
The Queensland government has ordered an urgent investigation into the cause of the tragedy near Blackwater.
Queensland Water Minister CRAIG WALLACE says signs have now been erected at the other weirs .. advising against swimming.
Meanwhile .. University of Queensland civil engineering emeritus professor COLIN APELT says the incident was likely caused by a failure in the dam's control system.
