50 Australians are aboard a cruise liner attacked by pirates in waters off Somalia.
The Nautica was sailing in the Gulf of Aden between Somalia and Yemen when it was attacked overnight by pirates in two small boats.
A French warship was alerted by the Danish navy and scrambled a chopper .. which cut the pirates off 300 metres from the cruise ship and sent them running .. but not before they fired eight shots .. none of which hit the liner.
The Nautica is carrying 684 passengers .. including the 50 Australians .. on a 32-day cruise.
