NSW: Jet skids off runway at Williamtown

SYDNEY, Dec 2 AAP - A safety investigation is underway after a military jet skidded off a runway at Williamtown air base near Newcastle.
The Hawk 127 from 76 Squadron had landed after a routine training sortie at about midday on Tuesday when the incident happened.
According to a defence department statement, the pilot noticed a braking problem on touchdown and started emergency procedures.
During the deceleration, the main tyres deflated and the jet slid off the runway.
The pilot was uninjured.
A safety investigation has been launched, the department said.
