NSW: Man charged with firearms offences after boy's death

SYDNEY, Dec 9 AAP - A man, believed to be the father of a teenager who accidentally shot dead his best friend, has been charged with firearms offences.
Josef Cruickshank, 14, was shot during a sleepover at a rural property on Silverdale Road at Orangeville, in Sydney's south-west, about 10.15pm (AEDT) on Saturday.
His 14-year-old friend, who called triple-0 after the shooting, has been charged with his murder.
After being arrested and taken to Camden Police Station, a 40-year-old Orangeville man has now been charged with four firearms offences: possessing a loaded firearm, possessing an unauthorised firearm, possessing an unregistered firearm, and not keeping firearm safe.
Police said his firearm licence remained suspended.
Media are reporting the man is the father of the boy charged with murder, but police would not confirm it.
The man has been granted conditional bail to appear at Camden Local Court on January 21 next year.
