PERTH, Dec 11 AAP - A 26-year-old man accused of setting fire to a West Australian police station has made a brief appearance in the Perth Magistrates Court.
The front entrance to the Joondalup police building was gutted on Monday night when a ute carrying a 220-litre fuel tank on its tray was backed up to the doors and set alight while a dozen officers were on duty.
Police say the fire caused $500,000 worth of damage to the building.
Ryan Thomas Jones, of no fixed address, appeared in court on Thursday to face two counts of stealing, reckless driving, four counts of driving with a suspended licence and breach of bail.
He has been remanded in custody until his next court appearance on January 8.
Officers have also charged a 31-year-old man, they accuse of helping Jones, with two counts of causing criminal damage by fire.
Police also are investigating a second arson attack at a northern suburbs police station on Wednesday morning where two police vehicles were burnt out.
Police do not believe the attacks are related.
