SYDNEY, Dec 14 AAP - A man has been arrested over an alleged arson attack on an inner-Sydney high-rise apartment block that had to be evacuated.
Emergency crews raced to the 12-level building in Darlinghurst Road, Potts Point, just after 6pm (AEST) on Sunday.
Fires were burning on level 4, level 9 and in the basement, a NSW Fire Brigades spokesman said.
About 40 residents were evacuated and firefighters worked for over an hour to extinguish the flames.
No one was injured.
Police say the fires were deliberately lit but there had been no structural damage.
Officers spoke to a number of witnesses and a short time later arrested a man at a nearby fast food restaurant.
