SYDNEY, Dec 19 AAP - More people are to be charged over alleged sexual assaults at a NSW boarding school, a Sydney magistrate has been told.
Lawyers for five men, four of whom were present, appeared in Sydney's Downing Centre Local Court on Friday in relation to the alleged assault of students at St Stanislaus College at Bathurst dating back to the 1970s.
The five include former priest Brian Spillane, 65, who has been charged with 44 new charges.
However, Elizabeth Walker, for the Director of Public Prosecutions, withdrew 20 charges which had previously been laid against him.
She told the court more people were to be charged in relation to the sex claims.
Lawyer Greg Walsh, acting for three of the five charged men, indicated he would apply at a later time to have the case moved back to Bathurst, where it originally came before a magistrate.
The matters are due to be mentioned again at the Downing Centre Local Court on February 19.
