Qld: Dead motorcyclist earlier evaded police

BRISBANE, Dec 20 AAP - A motorcyclist who died in a high speed crash in central Queensland had earlier evaded police attempts to stop him.
A police spokesman said the man died at the scene after striking a pedestrian at high speed on Hospital Road, Emerald, around 2.45am (AEST) on Saturday.
Officers had earlier tried to intercept the motorcyclist but he sped off.
He was found after police stopped to help the injured pedestrian.
The pedestrian, aged in his 20s was taken to Emerald Hospital with arm and shoulder injuries.
Officers from the Ethical Standards Command will investigate the actions of police involved in the incident and the matter will be referred to the Queensland Coroner.
The man was the first to die on Queensland roads over the Christmas/New Year period.
