SYDNEY, Dec 22 AAP - The national holiday road toll has risen to 13, following the death of a motorcyclist in a collision with a bus on the NSW mid-north coast.
Police said the accident happened at the intersection of The Lakes Way and Violet Hill Road at Boolambayte, south of Forster, at about 4.45pm (AEDT) on Sunday.
A spokesman said it appeared the bus was attempting to turn right into Violet Hill Road when the motorcyclist tried to overtake it and the vehicles collided.
Police would give no further details of the motorcyclist, whose death brings to four the number of dead on the state's roads since the toll period began on Friday.
Four people have also been killed on Victoria's roads since Friday, the latest being a 20-year-old man who died when his car hit a tree at Boolarra in the state's east just after 4am (AEDT) on Sunday.
On Queensland's Sunshine Coast, an 18-year old driver died at the scene when his car crashed on Kin Kin Road, Pomona, at about 4.50am (AEST) on Sunday - his birthday.
He was the second fatality in that state.
Two women have been killed in separate crashes in the Northern Territory since Friday.
Western Australia's first fatality occurred around midday (WDT) on Saturday, when a young male was thrown from his car when it rolled on the Goldfields Highway, 35km north of Leonora.
