BRISBANE, Dec 22 AAP - Queensland police have recorded more than 8,000 traffic offences, such as drink driving and speeding, in the past three days.
Acting Police Commissioner Ian Stewart said 419 motorists had been caught driving with blood-alcohol levels above 0.15 per cent, with 148 caught in one day.
"These numbers are totally unacceptable. People need to undertake responsible drinking patterns and plan their trip home," Mr Stewart said.
"No one needs to drink and drive and no one needs to risk their lives and the lives of innocent Queenslanders."
A further 2,457 motorists were caught speeding on Monday, with one driver in Bundaberg travelling more than 70km/h over the speed limit in a 60km/h zone.
Two people were killed on Queensland's roads at the weekend.
