HONG KONG, Dec 24 AP - A Chinese rock musician will team up with two directors to shoot a film set in Chengdu, the central Chinese city that was devastated in May by a massive earthquake that killed 70,000 people.

Chinese rocker Cui Jian, Hong Kong director Fruit Chan and South Korean filmmaker Hur Jin-ho will collaborate on Chengdu I Love You, fashioned in the same vein as similar city-themed films like Paris, je t'aime and New York, I Love You, Beijing-based Zonbo Media said in a statement on Wednesday.

Zonbo Media said the film would include segments about family, friendship and romance.

The company's chairman Chen Weiming was quoted as saying the film "will record the emotional journey of the many people affected by the earthquake."

The company said the film will be shot in Chengdu from April to May.

Known as China's godfather of rock, Cui won fame in the late 1980s with songs that voiced the hopes and anxieties of a generation entering adulthood after the death of Mao Zedong and the end of orthodox communism.

He was banned from performing in China for years because the government feared his daring political lyrics could incite an anti-communist uprising, but the ban was lifted several years ago.
