ASIA: Hong Kong shares open 1.7 per cent lower

HONG KONG, Dec 29 AFP - Hong Kong share prices opened 1.7 per cent lower on Monday, dealers said.
The benchmark Hang Seng Index was down 244.32 points at 13,939.82.
