NSW: Man taken to hospital after lightning strikes catamaran

SYDNEY, Dec 29 AAP - A sailor has been rushed to hospital after a mast he was holding was struck by lightning while the vessel was moored off NSW's Central Coast.
The 40-year-old man was aboard a racing catamaran when the incident occurred about 2.15pm (AEDT) on Monday, a NSW Ambulance Service spokeswoman said.
Ambulance crews were called to The Parade at Belmont and took the man to Newcastle's John Hunter Hospital in a stable condition, she said.
