SYDNEY, Dec 30 AAP - A man has been charged after launching fireworks at a police car in Sydney's west.
Police patrolling Cumberland Road, near Auburn, said they were fired on by a "ball-shooter" firework about 10.30pm (AEDT) on Monday.
Police have recently stepped up patrols of the area following increasing reports of illegal pyrotechnics being used.
Following the attack, police said they arrested a man in possession of a 75cm tube which is designed to launch flaming balls or industrial fireworks.
The 24-year-old Guildford man was issued with a Court Attendance Notice to appear before the Burwood Local Court on January 22.
