NSW: Car crash causes road closure .

SYDNEY, Jan 1 AAP - Traffic congestion on the Hume Highway has eased after rescuers airlifted two children injured in a car accident from the road by helicopter.

About 7.45am (AEDT) on Thursday, a vehicle travelling south on the Hume Highway, near Sutton Forrest, crashed into a tree, injuring three children.

A seven-year-old girl was airlifted to The Children's Hospital at Westmead by an ambulance rescue helicopter.

A ten-year-old boy was airlifted to Royal Prince of Wales hospital.

A third child, a twelve-year-old girl, was taken by road to The Children's Hospital at Westmead.

The 42-year-old female driver was also taken by road to Westmead hospital.

A fifth person in the vehicle was uninjured.
