PERTH, Jan 2 AAP - Police in Perth have charged a 30-year-old man with trying to seduce a child over the internet.
The Online Child Exploitation Squad alleges that on December 31 and January 1 the man, from WA's wheatbelt district, used an online chat program to try and meet with the girl.
Police say he had the intent to engage in sexual activity.
The man has been charged with two counts of using electronic communication with intent to procure a child under the age of 16 and will appear in the Perth Magistrates Court on Friday.
Police have used the case to warn parents about the dangers of leaving children unsupervised on their computers, particularly during school holidays.
