The Greens have called on the federal government to rule out flooding the lower lakes of the Murray River with sea water.
Greens Senator SARAH HANSON-YOUNG says it's time the RUDD government made a decision on South Australia's application to allow sea water through the barrages at the Murray mouth as a last resort .. if needed by February 2010.
But Senator HANSON-YOUNG says the Greens want to see a long-term solution .. and work with the South Australian government to get fresh water flows into what is an internationally-recognised wetland area that we should be protecting.
