NSW: Man cleared over shooting death: Police

SYDNEY, Jan 10 AAP - A man questioned by police over the fatal shooting at a caryard in Sydney's south-west has been released without charge.

About 2.45pm (AEDT) on Friday paramedics raced to the MacArthur Auto Centre in Blaxland Road, Campbelltown in response to reports two men had been shot

On arrival, a male thought to be aged in his 30s, was confirmed dead from a gunshot wound.

A second man, aged 24, was taken to Campbelltown Hospital by another man in his 20s who witnessed the shooting and was subsequently taken in by police for questioning.

The injured man, who had sustained a neck wound, was transferred to Liverpool Hospital, where he's reported to be in a serious but stable condition.

A police spokesman told AAP on Friday the gunman responsible "might be the one in hospital".

In a statement on Saturday, police said the exact circumstances of the the shooting remain unclear.

A post mortem examination will formally identify the dead man and establish the nature of his death.

Police say the incident was in no way related to Monday night's neighbourhood brawl at Rosemeadow.
