NSW: Two charged over cannabis worth $500,000 in hydro house

SYDNEY, Jan 15 AAP - Two people have been charged after cannabis plants worth almost $500,000 were found in a house in Sydney's west.
Police said a tip-off from the public led them to search a house on Neilson Street in Granville at about midday (AEDT) on Wednesday.
They allegedly found 98 cannabis plants growing in an elaborate hydroponics set-up in three rooms of the house.
The plants had an estimated street value of $490,000.
A 53-year-old man and a 46-year-old woman have each been charged with cultivating a prohibited plant for a commercial purpose, conducting a drug house and diverting electricity.
They were refused bail and were due to appear in Parramatta Local Court on Thursday.
On Wednesday, a Sydney man was charged over the alleged indoor cultivation of cannabis plants worth $900,000 in western Sydney.
Police seized 262 plants from a house in Colyton on June 12 last year.
After six months of investigation, a 39-year-old man was arrested and charged with knowingly taking part in the cultivation of a large commercial quantity of cannabis.
He was refused bail and was due to appear at Liverpool Local Court on Thursday.
