Police in Melbourne have warned they won't tolerate people who cause trouble at the Australian Open tennis tournament starting today.
The popular grand slam attracted more than 605-thousand fans last year .. but has been marred by racially-charged violence for the last two years.
Superintendent JOHN COOKE says police encourage fans to come along to the Australian Open .. but potential troublemakers are on notice that inappropriate crowd behaviour won't be tolerated.
He says anyone caught committing an offence .. faces serious penalties.
