SYDNEY, Jan 20 AAP - Two men have been charged with conspiring to murder a convicted drug dealer who was dismembered after being abducted while on day release from jail.
Police say Terry Falconer was abducted on November 16, 2001 while on day release from prison at a business in Louise Avenue, in Sydney's Ingleburn.
Parts of his dismembered body were found in a garbage bag on the banks of the Hastings River at Wauchope, on the mid-North coast, 10 days later.
Anthony John Michael Perish, 39, of Rockdale, faced Sydney's Central Local Court on Tuesday charged with conspiracy to murder Falconer.
Court papers allege that between 9am on October 1, 2001 and 5.30am on November 26, 2001, Perish conspired and agreed to murder Falconer.
Magistrate Alan Moore remanded Perish in custody and adjourned his case until January 29, at which time a bail application may be made.
A second man, 38, is due to face Hornsby Local Court on the same charge later on Tuesday.
Police swooped on the men at a McMahons Point cafe about 11am on Monday.
