SYDNEY, Jan 20 AAP - A woman has been held up at gunpoint and a man assaulted in two separate carjackings in Sydney, police say.
Shortly after 7pm (AEDT) on Monday a 49-year-old man returned to his parked Mercedes at the Entertainment Centre in Darling Harbour and was threatened with a knife by two men who approached him from behind.
The man refused to hand over his keys but was tackled to the ground after trying to run away from the pair.
He suffered minor injuries when he was assaulted by the men who then took his keys and stole his car.
The car was later recovered a short distance away in Omnibus Lane after it collided with a parked vehicle but the men left the scene.
In a second car jacking at about 11pm (AEDT) a 56-year-old woman was driving her Honda Civic on Mark Street at Lidcombe when she stopped to let a slow-walking man finish crossing the road.
The man appeared to talk to her, and when she wound down her window to hear what he was saying he pointed a silver handgun at her head and asked her to get out.
The man, described as being of Islander appearance, about 180 centimetres tall and wearing a dark hooded jumper, fled the scene in her car with registration number ATW 85X.
The woman was uninjured, police say.
Police are urging anyone with information about either incident to contact Crime Stoppers on 1800 333 000.
